Cấu trúc so sánh hơn dùng để so sánh hai sự vật. Câu trúc so sánh nhất dùng để so sánh từ ba sự vật trở lên.

Thông thường, các tính từ có 1 âm tiết hoặc tận cùng bằng 'y' sẽ được thêm 'er' để hình thành cấu trúc so sánh hơn và thêm 'est' để hình thành cấu trúc so sánh nhất.

Đối với các tính từ tận cùng bằng 'y', ta đổi 'y' thành 'i' rồi thêm 'er' hoặc 'est'.

Than thường xuất hiện trong cấu trúc so sánh hơn.
