Danh từ đếm được
Là danh từ có thể dùng được với số đếm, có hình thức số ít và số nhiều.
$\cdot $ pen, computer, bottle, spoon, desk, cup, television, chair, shoe, finger, flower, camera, stick, balloon, book, table, comb, v.v...
Thêm s để trở thành danh từ số nhiều.
$\cdot $ pens, computers, bottles, spoons, desks, cups, televisions, chairs, shoes, fingers, flowers, cameras, sticks, balloons, books, tables, combs, v.v...
Đi với các cụm từ như a few, few, many, some, every, each, these, và the number of.
$\cdot $ a few pens, a few computers, many bottles, some spoons, every desk, each cup, these televisions, the number of chairs, a few shoes, a few fingers, many flowers, some cameras, every stick, each balloon, these books, the number of tables, many combs, v.v...
Đi với các mạo từ phù hợp (a, an, hoặc the).

Danh từ không đếm được
Là danh từ Không dùng được với số đếm, do đó không có hình thái số ít, số nhiều. Những danh từ này thường đại diện cho một nhóm hoặc một chủng loại.
$\cdot $ water, wood, ice, air, oxygen, English, Spanish, traffic, furniture, milk, wine, sugar, rice, meat, flour, soccer, sunshine, v.v...
Có thể có hoặc không có mạo từ (a, an, hoặc the) đi kèm, tùy ngữ cảnh trong câu.

$\cdot $ The sunshine is beautiful.
$\cdot $ I drink milk.
$\cdot $ He eats rice.
